Acorn Treatment provides a structured drug treatment service to all inmates engaged with the CARAT Team at HMP Manchester. The Prison treatment service provides pre and post detox motivational groups, which act as preparation for the main absinence programme.

The Prison Abstinence Programme provides inmates witha short, intensive drug treatment programme that looks at the individual and their substance misuse. Prison treatment is designed to address the consequences of an inmate’s addiction. Heavy emphasis is placed on addressing drug or alcohol related offending behaviour.

All inmates are provided with a drug free environment whilst in treatment and are subject to both regular and random drug tests. Upon completion of the programme inmates will be offered further treatment at another prison such as Lancaster Castle or Everthorpe. Alternatively , The Courts may feel the individual is now suitable for community supervision. Acorn Treatment in the community will then provide offenders with a seamless service and a robust resettlement programme.
